Home owners need to be more contracturally aware when entering into a Contract for building works in their home.

The cost of repairing or replacing faulty workmanship and damage to the building fabric can be far greater than the cost of the original works.

To sue the Contractor who has done the damage is a lengthy process.

HOWEVER .. If the Homeowner uses the 'JCT Building Contract for a Home Owner', the owner of the property can refer its dispute or difference to Adjudication and get a building decision no later than 21 days after being appointed.

It's quick and easy and the costs of the Adjudication often having to be paid by the Contractor.
